Manchester City going top might play into Liverpools hands as the pressure is off, says talkSPORTs Ryan Mason
Liverpool relinquishing top spot in the Premier League to Manchester City could actually play into the Merseyside club’s hands, according to talkSPORT’s Ryan Mason.Jurgen Klopp’s side slipped a point behind the reigning champions in the table over the weekend after only managing a goalless draw away to neighbours Everton.2

Liverpool will wonder how they failed to win the game

The visitors were left to rue a number of missed opportunities after Fabinho missed from six yards out, while star man from last season Mohamed Salah squandered two big chances.The result means Liverpool have only won one of their last four matches in all competitions, sparking fears among Kopites that the players are cracking under the pressure.However, former Premier League midfielder Mason claimed that the fact the Reds have lost top spot could help them as the pressure is now on leaders City to keep coming up with the goods. Mason said on The Final Word: I actually dont think today [draw to Everton] is a bad point.Theyve dropped points recently which probably makes the result worse than it actually is but to go to Everton and the big derby that it is, I dont think its actually a bad point.There are still twists and turns in the Premier League. I dont believe Manchester City are going to win their final nine games, Liverpool are going to drop points and its all to play for.I dont think Liverpool have been that convincing this season.2

Mason believes there are more twists left in the title race

“If you look at Salahs performance – last season he would have taken the opportunities.There was a real lack of quality in a few instances and it is a bit nervy as they want it so bad but the fact that Manchester City are in front might actually play into Liverpools hands because the pressure isnt on them now.Theyre the chasers and they dont have to deal with the pressure. I dont think theyve dealt with the pressure very well at all.Its just about who drops the least points now.
